– Manhunt for American ‘tinder swindler’ in Thailand
Thailand has its very own tinder swindler according to at least three Thai ladies who have filed police reports against an American they claim duped each of them into online love, followed by face to face meetings, in some cases marriage and in all cases, seeing him filming their nocturnal adventures which he subsequently sent to friends or family and posted on the net.   The full identity of the 33 year old is known to police and we now know that he habitually made back to back visa runs in order that he could remain here.   Each woman was promised a good life in the US and plans to settle down and have children, and each funded his stay and costs here.  With a history of abusing women here and in other Asian countries, he used the secretly recorded videos to control them when they found out that he wasn’t quite what he claimed to be.   He certainly did play the long game, wooing each of them online for months before finally meeting and, according to him, falling instantly in love.   Thailand’s deputy police chief has overseen the case and an arrest is imminent as all border agents have been asked to keep an eye out for him.

– Agency admits to defected tsunami buoy
Despite the discovery of a warning buoy in the Andaman sea being found to be defective, the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department said this week that the Tsunami detecting unit did not leave the overall system in any way defective. The national security system isn’t reliant on a single detector but on a series of them and the one referred to had slipped its mounts mid last year, long being sought by the navy and a replacement ordered.

– One of Thailand’s biggest scammers arrested in Bangkok
One of Thailand’s biggest scammers was arrested in the capital following reports to police that he was hiding out there.  Back in 2015, he is said to have scammed a Chiang Mai jeweler into spending 22 milion baht in return for what was promised to be 200 BILLIN bahts worth of US equity, which proved to be… either worthless or non-existent.  With the old adage that if it’s probably too good to be true, then it is IGNORED. Convinced by forged CDs, and certificates of deposit, the conman fled to Angola where he later was jailed for cashing a dud cheque before sneaking BACK into Thailand.

– Smog levels rise in Thailand
Smog levels nationally rose yesterday seeing the capital exceeding safe levels.  Here in Pattaya this morning at 6am, the level was around the 100 mark and no signs of that decreasing in the coming days.  As always, the warning is out for those with breathing issues to remain indoors and others NOT to exercise outdoors.

– Couple charged for hiding 2 year old in fridge
A junkie who was left, with his wife, to take care of the toddler son of a friend has been accused of failing to report the child’s demise, after it was discovered in a fridge.  They told police that the child choked to death after being fed sticky rice balls by its ailing grandfather.  Initial checks indicate that that indeed may have been the cause.  It was the grandfather who reported the 2 year old missing.  His parents had paid less than reliable due to care for the child so that they could both work.

– Bars & clubs warned to control noise levels despite later opening hours
Good news for some here IN the city, writing in to 103fm to bemoan the new late opening hours around the city.  As the under secretary of the ministry of interior has warned all venues that whilst they may be enjoying the later closing times so NOISE levels MUST be controlled.  The level of sound EMANATING from entertainment venues MUST be minimal in order that others can sleep and failure may lead to licence cancellations.

– Reservoir levels keenly monitored with long dry season predicted
Reservoir levels are being keenly watched now as river levels nationally drop following the start of the dry season.  For Pattaya, right now all lakes are full but there is concern that that may change with predictions of a long and hot dry season ahead.
