– HM King’s son makes surprise return to Thailand after 27 years
Without fanfare and arriving on a standard air flight, the second son of HM the King of Thailand arrived in Bangkok after 27 years away. Believed to be here to visit family, the 42 year old, one of 4 brothers, passed through the airport and stopped to talk to many who recognized him before leaving en route toan unreported destination. Since then he has visited a series of temples and areas within the capital. A lawyer by profession, and a long term resident of the United States, Vacharasesorn also visited a child welfare centre during, telling the media that he was pleased to return and that it was like a dream to be back here on thai soil. – 11 year old drowns in Phuket waters
Despite the high waves and current storm front over Thailand, a German and his 11 year old son went swimming in the ocean off Phuket after dark this week. Lifeguard teams called the scene rescued both but only the son survived and the warning remains NOT to swim off beaches during storm times here. As the German embassy was duly informed, an autopsy will take place as is standard procedure here but it is assumed that he drowned.
– Clampdown on taxi safety in Thailand
Per a notice in the Royal Gazette, new regulations for all forms of taxi, including minivans go into effect in a few months time. From November, drivers must ensure that all passengers wear seatbelts in any form of taxi or public transportation. No word on how that might affect song taew, known as baht buses, but in regular vehicles it will apply to all.

– Hospital director jailed for defamation of former MP
The Criminal Court has sentenced a hospital director to 5 years and fined him for defaming a former MP in the spatial. The sentence was suspended due to his contributions to society. Seems he posted contentious messages on social media. They were all ordered to be deleted and a public apology in print was also required as a condition of his remaining free.
– Hun Sen’s son appointed as new Cambodian PM
In neighbouring Cambodia, following the recent UNOPPOSED election of Hun Sen as premier, Hun Sen’s SON has been endorsed as his own replacement. After a 27 year rule, effectively, of Cambodia, Hun Sen won the majority of seats in parliament there as, after the main opposition was barred from the vote . Hun Sen himself will continue to be leader of ruling Cambodian People’s.
– Wandering buffalo causes fatal accident
This week has seen a 25 yr old die in a fatal motorbike accident, with a buffalo in Rayong. Seems the man was riding at night when one, of the many, buffalo allowed to roam on roadsides for feed.. roamed out onto the concrete in the dark. This at the very same time as a pickup crashed into another beast. Believed to be of a small herd, the owners were being sought.

– UFO spotted in Pattaya
If you think you have seen everything, you haven’t.. as Pattaya has a new mode of transport to amuse passers by. Gone are the days of the brit on his golden bicycle but NOW we have. A UFO. The creation of a local 63 yr old, the round but grounded spaceship has all the flashing lights you would expect and certainly catches attention. Keep your eyes open for him, he seems to be a regular now on local streets.
