– Heavy storms flood Bangkok
Still wondering why weather reports for Thailand contain storm warnings, as the Pattaya region never sees a drop? Well, spare a thought for motorists in the capital where flooding caused chaos in several areas yesterday evening, seeing roads homes and businesses flooded. That took some while to drain away too as, it appears, drains were in need of dire service and cleaning.
– Pattaya condo buyers left hot and in the dark
The saga of expat and Thai condo buyers at the Emerald Palace condos in Cozy beach has been well documented over the years, with buyers paying in full, developers fleeing with the cash and mortgages registered on the title deeds to Kasikorn bank, but never paid off or removed. That was years ago, and court cases have come and gone, with some appeals pending from the bank. The sub developers said to have filed for bankruptcy, and buyers found to be in the right, by court. But this week the manageress of the condos oversaw an aggressive step by removing the electricity and water meters from over 18 of fully paid for units, where owners had paid their utility bills completely up to date. Citing the fact that in her opinion.. ‘Her opinion’, the condos belong to the bank, and inferring that she was acting on behalf of the bank. There is no word as to whether she has a court order allowing her to do so but for 5 days now, many have been in the dark and without water. Visits to police stations have resulted in owners being told it’s a civil matter, despite having PAID for the meters, which act as sub meters from a main PEA supply and which have been removed forcibly. Meanwhile, several tenants have quit the building leaving owners without an income. When approached for comment the manageress told us she was at the police station Wednesday afternoon. Hopefully, the condo management company directors may just put the meters back rather than incur more bad publicity, as it’s believed that they and she have managed or currently manage other developments locally. With one of the original developers now in a UK jail after being found guilty of defrauding investors elsewhere and the whereabouts of former Rotary Club Chairman HORTON unknown. Owners are left.. in despair and hope that the citizens advice department in city hall will, as promised, investigate quickly by Friday.

– Pattaya motorbike taxi VS Bolt taxi confrontation turns violent
Three private hire bolt drivers ended up worse for wear this week as one was berated for nicking business from the regular motorcycle taxis in Naklua. He managed to ferry his fare but then called on others to join him to go back and continue the row. That didn’t work out too well as the local boys in orange happened to have knives about them and according to the bolt drivers, fought viciously when they took them on, three were treated for stab wounds. The regular street taxi men told police that the bolt boys turned up looking for a fight, it seems they got it with spades.

– Tourists gold bracelet found by good Samaritan with metal detector
Good news for one holiday maker who, for a change, genuinely lost their 1 baht gold weight bracelet on the beach. Rather than whine and complain, or blame the cross dressers of the night, they approached a local Thai man who combs the beaches with a metal detector. Within a short period of time, the jewelry was found and handed back. With the detector usually being happy if he finds coins, he was overjoyed and it was hoped that the bracelet owner was decent enough to compensate.
– Pattaya thieves nick house gate in broad daylight
Two Thai men refused to take offence with a local home owner. Instead, they nicked his steel gate. Caught on CCTV, they loaded the stolen gate onto a motorbike and sidecar, presumably to sell it for scrap. Hua yai police were quickly on their tail and without much in the way of speed available to them, they were quickly stopped. Both were duly charged with theft and the gate safely returned to its owners.
