– Property prices set to rise in our province
The Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand (EECO) has revealed its plans for our province, Chonburi to have transformed into a global  smart hub within 4 years, seeing investment in education, logistics, manufacturing and tourism and a new industrial zone of close to 1000 hectares close to Utapao airport.   Investment?  Predicted to be 535 billion baht, and that’s coming mostly from private sector investment. Once operational, the region can expect to see 50K new jobs opening up and a demand on housing.

– Two more Thais released by Hamas
Two more Thai nationals have been released by Hamas, during the pause in battles in gaza, seeing the total number of Thais returned at 19, both were receiving medical checks prior to flights home.

– ‘I fell asleep and lost 200,000 baht’ says Pattaya visitor
Is there a new competition to see who can be the dumbest when it comes to carrying cash here?  Seems like a middle aged Australian has taken the biscuit as he claims to have lost 200 thousand baht that he claims went missing from his bag that he put in a luggage rack on a public bus. Coming here, before dozing off.  As you do.   As to the police report, well it was duly filled and they are trying to establish whether he might had dropped the cash somewhere OR indeed, had it stolen.  Either way 200,000 baht is, they say, a little too much for a smart person to be carrying around at any time.

– Thai cabinet approves clean air act to reduce pollution
Thailand’s Cabinet on Tuesday approved in principle a draft clean air act to reduce pollution.   If implemented it would give more powers to control fires AND commercial pollution.   But that is only in the pipeline, as the dry season approaches which usually sees pollution levels rise.

– 9 arrested in crypto call center raids
At least two Chinese were among 9 arrested in raids on 5 locations across the capital and Samut Prakan, all are expected to be charged with transnational crime as they operated a huge call centre operation here selling crypto deals to the easily led. During those raids an estimated 1 BILLION bahts worth of assets including bank accounts were seized.

– Suspected dealer passes away in motorbike accident
When local police attended a motorbike accident in Nongplalai on the main highway, they found a local man beyond recovery BUT at the same time discovered several bags of methamphetamine, leading them to assume that he was a courier and may have taken some of his wares himself.  A full post mortem was ordered as no other vehicle was reported as being involved.

– Electricity costs to rise AGAIN in Thailand
Just when you thought it was safe to spend a little more.. BAD news for homeowners and business operators as, following a month of low utility bills, the cost of electricity is set to rise AGAIN in January according to the energy regulation commission. Close to point 7 of a baht will be added to the unit cost..for the period January through April, and just as the hot season approaches.

– 49 people busted in hotel casino raid
49 people including 26 Chinese were rounded up and arrested at a hotel in Nonthaburi where criminals were operating a full on casino over 2 floors. I Wish hotel had sealed the floors to the gang which then installed card and gaming tables, slot machines and more.  The local police chief claims that they had checked out the location a month before and found.. nothing but this, was a massive operation for sure and seemingly well established.

– Former PM Prayuth appointed as senior advisor
Former prime minister General Prayut has been appointed as a member of the privy council of Thailand.  The recent retiree then becomes a senior advisor after his appointment, approved by HM the King, it is posted in the Royal Gazette.

– Local village chief fires gun during Loy Krathong argument
In Rayong, a local village chief decided HE was John Wayne at a loy kratong festival.  Seems a local man went after midnight to help his wife pack up her vending stall,  saw the headsman and asked him why he had berated his wife the night before.. only for HIM to pull out his weapon and fire in the air before firing it around, scaring all in the vicinity.  Police have a copy of a video clip showing the stupidity and, remembering pop stars who have been jailed for firing in the air without animosity.. he COULD face a while behind bars.
