– Diesel costs rise in Thailand
Shell Thailand is the first to have raised diesel prices at the pumps by 1 baht following the end of a subsidy program that has kept fuel at below 30 baht a litre since the global price hikes,  now at 30.49. That certain won’t break the bank for hauliers and shouldnt necessitate any hike in retail prices of transported goods.

– Thai senate votes FOR new equal marriage act
The Thai senate voted FOR the new equal marriage act which is on track to see same sex couples able to register legally binding relationships.    The senate will vote again for a second and third time before the act can go into law.  With some suggesting that it go ahead BUT that the legal age for marriage under the bill be raised to 20 to prevent problems.

– New marijuana laws in Thailand soon
The Public Health Minister has confirmed that the PMs anti marajuana stance is not the opinion of the majority of the governing party. HE says that new laws WILL go into effect soon, restricting ganga sales for only medical reasons but banning recreational use.  However, marajuana, according to him, will NOT be put back on the list of narcotics,  but we are reminded that technically, any product with more that the 0.2% THC is still regarded AS a narcotic under Thai law.

– International flight returns to Bangkok following technical issues
It’s been confirmed that a Hong Kong airline flight that left the capital here on Sunday DID return soon after due to technical issues.  No passengers were injured in any way and whilst standard protocol was adhered too, and passengers given accommodation and waiting areas. There is NO word on the exact problem incurred by the pilot and crew.

– Thai airports to raise passenger service charge
It’s been confirmed that Thai airports WILL raise the standard passenger service charge, billed to airlines for airport services BUT in a tiny way.   Raising the fee from 100 to 130 isn’t going to shock anyone or cause any effect on ticket sales BUT, as costs rise, so they have to be passed on.

– Visa ‘agent’ arrested for supplying fake visas in Thailand
A Thai man in Petchaburi has been arrested and charged with suppling fake visas for those working illegally here.  With his custom mainly from Chinese, some actually complained to police that their fake visas had not arrived despite paying 20K baht. That certainly saw some interest from immigration police.

– Thai woman fakes robbery to hide naughty secret
When a 30 year old Thai woman reported a mugging, leading to the theft of 2,200 baht, police couldn’t match her story to what they saw on cctv.  Questioned again, it turns out that she has recently married BUT had never told her current husband about a previous spouse AND CHILD to whom she regularly sends money. Now facing police charges, there is no word on how her current future ex reacted when he heard the full story.

– (VIDEO) Tourist takes rented car for a joyride…. on the beach
Dumbest tourist award this week goes to the renter of a Toyota Camry on Phuket where he decided it was cool to… drive on the beach.  Despite it being illegal and daft,  social media was awash with video clips of  the vehicle, even driving through the shallow waves.   Police are investigating but the reminder remains that A.. its illegal, but B.. usually these types end up sinking the vehicle axles and begging for a tow.

– Traffic chaos in Pattaya
In Pattaya, traffic chaos yesterday as locals celebrated in the temples BUT seeing much of the city go to gridlock for several hours. Festivals of various nature will continue now as we approach Songkran and so, well, best to always keep a snack in your car
in the city and nationwide, there was much celebration for the birthday of HRH Princess Maha Shakri Siridhorn,  daughter to the late King.  She is held in high esteem by Thais who have seen her as benevolent and generous, caring for the thai people and dedicated to the nation.
