Fatal fire drill at Bangkok School
A fire practice drill in a Bangkok school that went drastically wrong is being investigated by senior forensics teams. This as a rechargeable Co2 pressurized fire extinguisher, similar to those used everywhere, exploded in the playground as students gathered, leaving one 18 year old beyond recovery, and close to 2 dozen with reported injuries. Those fire prevention officers, stunned and in shock, have made themselves available to authorities for investigation as other reports indicate that the canister didn’t have a high pressure release valve, which could have led to its overheating in the sun. That, however, is not necessarily the cause as extinguishers, including this one, are usually built in a very solid manner. This one, though, was rechargeable and investigators will be looking as to who recharged it, when and with what procedure in place. Classes at the school have been suspended until Wednesday to allow pupils to adjust to the news and the school to review its equipment.
