– Expats wanted for hiding dismembered body in freezer
Following the discovery of a corpse hidden in a freezer in the capital at the weekend, police are now seeking 2 Indian expats believed to have been involved.  Both are believed to have fled Thailand following the dismemberment of a man, now believed to have been Burmese, but that’s not likely to serve them well as Thailand has a very fluent extradition deal with India and both are likely to be shipped back here soon,  reports indicate that the Indians have been running an employment scam here offering work to Burmese and assisting in illegal border crossings.

– Crackdown on AI generated adult videos
The use of generative AI to create fake adult entertainment clips with other people’s faces has become a serious issue leading to the police, this week promising strong punishment for those found to be guilty.  From the famous to Mr or Mrs average, people are reporting fake clips going viral with which they have.. nothing to do with.

– Man arrested for selling over 2.8 million bahts worth of fake USD
A third man has been arrested after an undercover operation linked him to two men previously nabbed on charges of selling fake US currency. He was tricked into meeting two undercover policemen who offered to buy his wares, with a street value of 2.8 million baht.  The operation was put into place after two others, caught earlier, fingered their boss in an attempt to reduce their own sentences.

– Easier 90 day reporting for expats in Thailand
For expats, good news as queuing for 90 day reporting is a thing of the past thanks to the recent upgrades in software and online reporting.  The 3 monthly reporting has always been a pain, seen immigration offices overloaded and all for a stamp.  Signing up ahead of time is essential,  then with a unique user code you can register a week or two before the due date.. and avoid the heated queues.

– 300,000 baht of gold stolen from tourist in Pattaya
Meanwhile at home and it’s like groundhog day in our newsroom as once again a local member of the third gender has been arrested and found in possession of 300K bahts worth of gold stolen, this time from a Swiss man, who wandered the streets dressed like an xmas tree.   We can’t over emphasize the stupidity of anyone wearing this amount or indeed any amount of gold in evenings and around the entertainment zones.  Luckily this time, most if not all was recovered but in the past, many have NOT been so lucky.
