5 nabbed for armed kidnapping at Bangkok checkpoint
Police at a road check in a Bangkok suburb heard cries from a passing vehicle and pulled it over, only to discover a hostage being held by 5 armed men Tuesday morning. All five were nabbed and 6 guns taken as evidence. The drink drive checkpoint cops stopped two vehicles travelling together and were told by the HOSTAGE that he had been seized by armed men as he ate at an eatery. Quite WHY hasn’t been explained, and there is likely a reason for his kidnap that will come out in the wash later BUT, for now, all are being interrogated.

5 injured in Thai train crash
In Ratchaburi three railway employees were seriously injured when a freight train crashed into another which was stationary and being unloaded. A full investigation is underway following the derailment and those in charge of signals face disciplinary hearings. As late as last night, teams were working to remove 8 carriages which were thrown from the rails and later trains were stopped with passengers offered coach ride to bi pass the crash scene.

American Youtuber enrages Thai police
What does a Youtuber in Thailand do to make more money from vlogging? Something stupid of course. And this week it has been the turn of American national.. My Mate Nathanial, to once again purposely post a video to garner free PR. Famed for nearly being kicked out of Thailand in the past due to dangerous and insulting pranks, then crying online when he split up with his ex, the latest ploy of the, no longer youthful, who speaks fluent thai, involved telling his flock that he had hired a whole group of 50, from a police commando unit, for a video of a game involving toy guns, knowing that Police, of course, have been top of the media tree for headlines in recent months. More than 2 million people with time on their hands watched his clip designed to cause background controversy in Thailand. Police were ordered to investigate WHETHER the 50 uniformed cops were really cops, turns out maybe 8 were and the rest paid actors. It is of course illegal for police officers to appear in commercial media in uniform without permission but our mate Nathanial knows that all too well. His sheeples then can expect a groveling apology, a few tears and the begging for forgiveness, and of course the hundreds of thousands of baht in his pocket from the viewing figures will mean he can afford Kleenex. Meanwhile Kanchanaburi police have to waste time, and public money, in setting up an investigation that could instead have been spent in a more worthwhile manner. And those cops involved.. Well, thanks to him, they will probably face disciplinary procedures.

Student activist returns to school refusing to wear uniform
As in most western countries, school uniform is a prerequisite for pupils attending educational establishments here but one 15 yr old has made the Thai news headlines after turning up at a Bangkok school in regular attire demanding to be let into class. The school claims that she failed to enroll in time for term start, the girls says she has been expelled. She is claiming her human rights to education, the school that appears happy that she has been excluded. With many saying that ist Time, maybe, to buy the standard uniform and dress appropriately.

Thai cancer survivor swims English channel
Swimming the English channel, the rough sea route between England and France, has long been the height of adventure for strong swimmers despite dangerous waves and currents.. but one Thai lady’s 21 hour crossing is being hailed as an example to all. The 37 year old cancer survivor made the 66 KM crossing at the weekend despite heavy rains to raise awareness and in doing so is seen as a great example to all.

28 million baht cash in suitcases delivered to corrupt Thai cops at temple
Meanwhile at home and as our province of Chonburi reels from the news that the heads of the provincial police have been charged with receiving bribes from criminals to avoid punishment, police investigating police have interrogated 4 who, its claimed, delivered 28 million baht cash of total 140 million, packed in suitcases, at a meet up outside a Chiang rai temple. With CCTV showing the parties COMING TOGETHER, there is no word on the identity of those who received the money, but that will be known to authorities now as the investigation continues and Chonburi’s police force remains without a commander and senior officers.

Wanted overstaying Korean nabbed in Pattaya
A check on his passport showed local immigration police that a Korean man had forgotten to apply for a visa, for almost 4 years. THAT was enough to see him nabbed ..he had been stopped after South Korean authorities notified them that the man was wanted back in his home country for involvement in a multi million dollar illegal online gambling ring. He is expected to be returning home, under guard, very soon.

Will commercial premises be billed for wastewater treatment in Pattaya?
And Pattaya may well follow the example intended to go into effect in the capitol soon, to charge commercial businesses for wastewater treatment. Plans are afoot in the capital to charge commercial users based on the amount of water used, as is practice in many western countries. The money is then applied to the cost of waste water treatment and would perhaps ee an improvement here with canals and drains in better condition.
