– 3 dead, 1 injured in power plant shooting 
A government employee was recovering at the weekend after he and three others were shot by a rogue security employee at a Ratchaburi power plant.  With the other three having succumbed to their injuries, it appears that the gunman, reported as the head of security at the plant, had fired on his superiors after being STRESSED following changes made to security at the plant which included he taking a pay cut and another company added to the roster.   He was later arrested at his home.

– Thai airports prepare for more arrivals 
The civil aviation authority has been ordered to prepare for additional airport slots at 4 main airports including the two in the capital, allowing more arrivals as Thailand prepares for an increase in tourism in 2024. Following cuts during and after the covid era, it is estimated that upward of 30% more slots can be introduced without issue.

– Bangkok Tuk Tuks campaign for release of Gaza hostages 
Despite numerous tuk tuks in the capital carrying advertising for the release of hostages in Gaza,   the state has declared that it had NO involvement in the paid for advertising and that it was wholly done at the cost of the Israeli embassy.  At least 100 of the mini taxi vehicles carried photographs of those missing along with banner headlines in Thai and English language.

– 20 children injured in portable bridge collapse  
As Thailand enjoyed the fun of children’s day, so in Satun, emergency rescue teams were called to a portable bridge which is normally used in emergencies as a pontoon bridge to replace ones damaged, but had invited children to climb on board as it was lifted above the ground.  Sadly, at least one lifting cable snapped, seeing 20 children injured as they fell over 3 metres to the ground.

– Thai government pushes solar expansion 
Solar power may become a lot easier to generate for profit soon as the industry ministry plans to make applications to generate in excess of 1000 KW a lot simpler.  The current limit sees many commercial businesses unable to generate their ful requirements, and for others an inability to set up so-called solar farms. THAT, we are told, is about to change.

– Foreigner killed, 1 injured in Pattaya plane crash
Flight experts along with forensics teams are still working to establish the cause of the crash of a light plane near Pattaya which has seen an Austrian pilot die and his German co-pilot left with life threatening injuries. Just 20 minutes after take off, local Huay Yai farmers tell that the small plane appeared to be attempting an emergency landing in a field before striking a tree.  As emergency services raced to the scene, both were freed from the wreckage and the surviving 52 yr old co pilot  CHRISTIAN LEONARDO SCHUF rushed to hospital with injuries including both legs broken at the ankle as 50 yr old  MR. STEFAN MOLNAR was deemed dead at the scene.  Components of the rented plane were being examined and removed yesterday as it was revealed that both were experienced pilots and had rented the Rotax912 Ultralight, 2-seat plane in the past.

– Fun day for all at Pattaya Children’s day celebration 
Meanwhile at home and despite traffic congestion, which was predicted, the city celebrated children’s day on Saturday with numerous events, capped by the annual celebrations at city hall which saw the city mayor handing out over 5000 gifts to children, with his team, as he.. duly dressed as a frog, in keeping with the fun day.

– Intoxicated Pattaya woman smashes 7 cars in late night rampage
2.30 Sunday morning saw a drunken Thai woman plough into several vehicles causing damage to 7.  The 43 year old is said to have been the driver with her non Thai partner in the passenger seat, and according to police was uncooperative and rude, denying that she was under the influence.  No word on her foreign passenger, but  a blood test is said to have revealed that she was close to 4 times the legal limit for booze.

– Heavy storms flood some areas of Pattaya while others remain dry 
In the Pattaya region, dilated but very heavy storm showers soaked some areas at the weekend, leaving behind minor fooding yet other nearby areas remained dry.  On the east side, storms drenched Pong and other villages on two consecutive days.  More may be on the way but this morning the smog levels here were at a dangerous level.. 120 as opposed to the 50 level which is considered safe.
