– ‘Big Joke’ denies online gambling links amid police investigation
Thailand’s Deputy national police chief has repeated his denial of any involvement in ANY online gambling network, on the same day that courts issued warrants for several high ranking officers but NOT for him.  Stating that he sully endorses the legal system here, it’s been reported that the courts refused to endorse warrants against him due to  what’s described as flimsy or non-existent evidence.   So far, a police colonel, several lower ranking police and at least one civilian have been questioned about involvement and financial transfers, in the illegal online business which ran, we’re told, for a long time and was “protected”  until the bust. Known as Big Joke, Gen Hakparn was in the running for national police chief last year, before actions prevented that and will likely be in the running for the position again later THIS year when the current incumbent is expected to retire.

– British dealer arrested in Chiangmai
A 48 year old man, claimed by Thai media to be British, was arrested in Chiang mai this week after undercover cops pretended to be drug dealers.  Named as Charly Garcia, he was duped by investigators who found 408 grams of cocaine, 595 grams of magic mushrooms, and 160 tablets of diazepam (Valium) along with MDMA and Xanax in his rented rooms. Said to have sold his wares via the telegram and other apps, he existed here on a STUDENT VISA, and had been investigated by police in Bangkok previously.

– Parents charged 5,000 baht for badly behaving teens
In Sa Kaeo, where juveniles, including children of local police officers, are now known to have killed a local, mentally impaired woman, the parents of each have been fined 5,000 baht for enabling their children to behave badly, which is actually a crime in Thailand.  All  youngsters face serious charges though, as an enquiry is underway to investigate claims that the woman’s husband was beaten into signing a confession that HE caused her drowning, before CCTV revealed the real villains.

– Tourist’s lifeless body found with neck wounds
Phuket police are investigating the passing of a Russian man found with his throat cut at an abandoned Cannabis farm.  His girlfriend had asked police to help find him after he went missing, they tracked his rented car to a house where growers had filled most rooms with marijuana plants.  With locals reporting that the house was rented by foreigners, and many speculating that he was a disgruntled buyer, the renters are known to police and being sought.

– Frenchman busted for multi-million euro Rolex replica ring
A Frenchman who ran a mega fake watch supply business to Europeans faced court this week accused of shipping Rolex lookalikes and other watches to buyers in his home country.  Amid claims that he arranged the exort of 50 THOUSAND watches.  Reportedly of very good quality and as close to the real thing as is possible, the genuine manufacturers had hired investigators to unravel his operation and as the case progresses, he is representing himself in court – but the clock is ticking, a verdict is expected in a weeks time.

– Rare buffalo sells for 18 million baht
Once just a working animal, later replaced by tractors, the Thai buffalo still earns its masters money.  Well, in one case at least in Petchaburi where a rare Albino bull sold for 18 MILLION baht.   With the expectation that he will do his duty, and produce offspring of similar appearance.  5 years old and nearly 6 ft high he was feted previously as Thailand’s top giant breeding buffalo,  and his new owner predicts that he will have no shortage.. of female admirers.

– Bali Hai area ruined by graffiti artists
Meanwhile at home, CCTV clearly identifies the dumb duo of teenagers who have been condemned by the city mayor for spraying graffiti over multiple seats, benches, posts and walls in the Bali Hai area. Their ART will likely see the Thai lads arrested within a week according to local police.

– Westerner seriously injured in Pattaya motorbike collision
A western man was in intensive care yesterday after a collision between his rented big Kawasaki, on which he and a Thai female were riding without helmets, collided with a scooter ridden by a Burmese man in North Pattaya. All left with horrible injuries, medics treated them at the scene before they were evacuated as a city truck driver, under whose vehicle at least one ended up,  told that the scooter came out from a side soi, striking the bigger bike and that the female had been thrown underneath his truck which was passing on the same route.

– 30  injured in tour bus accident
Chinese tourists were among 30 injured when a tour bus front ended a heavy goods vehicle on the BKK to Pattaya motorway this week.  With the damage indicating that the accident occurred at high speed, the cause of the accident is under investigation, and vehicle mounted cameras are likely to show just how it all happened.  Huge tailbacks were reduced as police along with tow vehicles cleared the carriageway.

– Homeless man rescued from plastic bottle raft in Pattaya bay
A 53 year old homeless Thai man was rescued from the ocean waves this week after being spotted floating out in an attempt to reach Koh Larn.  Things didn’t go quite the way he planned as he drifted instead in the wrong direction, spotted by a tour boat. Authorities went out and rescued him, but not his ocean going vessel, which was made out of plastic bottles.  You can’t make it up but it seems that his boat building had been an ongoing hobby for a while.
