– British tourist missing in Thai reservoir
A British tourist is believed to have drowned while canoeing on a reservoir in Surat Thani where scuba diving rescue teams trawled the area to no avail as the park management noted that they had NOT registered to go onto the waters, which is a requirement and that neither of those in the vessel were wearing life jackets.

– Thai immigration officers jailed for extortion
When a Chinese man was found to be in possession of a Thai ID card, issued illegally last year, 5 immigration officers went to confront him BUT instead of arresting him, took him elsewhere and forced him to pay them 10 million bahts worth of crypto currency. Yesterday saw them sentenced to 15 years in jail.

– Activists arrested for motorcade honking
Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, known to the public as the Princess Angel, has long been revered here and afforded the utmost of respect when a carload of political so called activists decided to honk at and try to join a motorcade for HRH.  Those in the car were all duly taken into custody here, but are now bleating that they hadn’t got a clue who was in the motorcade.  That hasn’t and won’t carry any weight with investigators.  Charges will be filed against two of the activists with at least one of them currently on bail for similar displays of disrespect to the monarchy and royal family. Both have publicly apologised for speeding and rudeness.

– Thai birds ranked 3rd most popular in the world
Globally, Thailand now ranks as the third biggest poultry exporter, 100K tonnes of chicken and other products left these shores, with companies like Saha foods also supplying major European supermarket shelves with pre-prepared meals.  Topped only by the US and Brazil, and with the benefit of little if any avian flu here, Thai birds are proving popular with the west.

– US & Thai Navy to recover remains from sunken Sukhothai ship
With the annual Cobra gold operations fast approaching, a combined operation between Thai and US navy is expected to see them recovering any remains of seamen from the sunken Thai navy vessel in the gulf.  It was back in 2022 when the Sukothai sunk during bad weather, since then, many have discussed the concept of recovering the whole vessel but as nothing came of that so families of the five missing men hope for closure as teams also plan to destroy any equipment that may have been left on board and which could compromise security.   Cobra Gold 2024, an annual multinational military exercise, will run from February 27 to March 10  in Thailand.

– Late-night accident claims 2 lives in Pattaya
Another high-speed bike accident on Jomtien second road, this time seeing  a 42 yr old and 46 year old Thai man involved in the 4 o’clock in the morning crash that was witnessed by several who told police that the bike was racing at a high speed before both lost their lives as it crashed into a tree.

– 45 arrested at Pattaya cockfight
Most of those arrested at an illegal cock fight in Banglamung district were freed yesterday morning by police who raided the fight NOT for the fighting, which isn’t illegal, but for the gambling that ran alongside it.  45 people were nabbed after a complaint form that CONCERNED MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC.    Undercover agents checked out the action as a mass of officers surrounded the event.
