– Special unit investigate officials involved in trafficking
The Office of the Narcotics Control Board has, according to Thai media, established a new special investigation unit tasked with investigating claims that local officials or civil servants of any kind, working in border areas could be involved in aiding the drug trade. With multiple complaints passing over his desk, the secretary general approved the 14 man team, promising arrest of any found to be complicit.

– American caught on CCTV injuring…. a horse
On Phuket, a 19 year old male, named only as STEPHEN, and, with reported right to American citizenship, was cautioned yesterday by police investigating a report of internal abuse.. to a horse.  Housed in a local stable, the mare had been in foal before miscarrying after abuse CAUGHT ON CCTV and the owner claims that similar acts led to miscarriage for another mare in the past. With locals declaring the 19 year old as an American, others that he is half western. Either way, he had been welcomed and allowed to wander the stables freely.   Anxious noises were heard at night, leading to the owners investigating and finding him in the stable and CCTV showing him involved in a vile act.  As we broadcast to audiences which include younger families, the details, although obvious, won’t be described here, however, he is likely to face detention and charges.

– Australian under investigation for road rage
A man of Australian origin is being accused of causing an accident and damaging a woman’s car near the capital after heavily edited video clips showed him attempting to access her vehicle as she sat in traffic AND pulling in front, parking his bike and again approaching her in an aggressive manner THAT then led to her driving into his bike and damaging it.  Now the police dealt with the issue, finding both and seeing both agree compensation for each other.  ONLY AFTER the matter was resolved did the lady decide she wasn’t happy with the outcome and posted the clips on social media.   Whilst they show the man indeed aggressive, the edited car cam clips fail to show what led to the dispute and show only one side of the event, due to the camera angle.  Many see this as part of an escalation in complaints about expats fired up by the errant behaviour of two Swiss men in the south, whilst others see it more as Thai nationals finally having enough of the minority of non-thais here who act as entitled or superior.  Either way, best to be on good behaviour here and remember.. We are guests.

– Over 7,000 Thais reported to be working illegally in Dubai
In Dubai, amid reports of more than 7000 Thais living and working illegally there,  the consul general has told the press that many women were lured there with promises, only to find themselves forced into body selling and living on the fringe. Going on to review the mass number involved in online scamming, she advised that nothing can be done to assist Thais living there illegally unless they themselves approach local police to make complaints which, then, see the consulate involved.

– Phuket beach road to reopen after protest
On Phuket, developers near a public beach have worked with local authorities to allow the reopening of a partially public road to the sands after it was closed and fenced off.  The move followed a 500 person rally last week, fired up by the case of a Swiss man who attacked a Thai lady resting near his RENTED beachside home.  Authorities found that many roads leading to the beach had been blocked off making the sands inaccessible.  The local city hall agreed to maintain the thoroughfare after fences were due to be removed.

– 48 provinces choke on hazardous smog
Monday saw 48 provinces reporting hazardous levels of smog, with nearly a dozen northern regions listed as having hazardous air quality.    In several regions now DRONES are being used by local headsmen to keep an eye out for fires, often set by locals, seeing teams then sent out to explain the error of ways and douse flames.  The smog, much of which come sin from neighbouring countries, has become more and more of an annual hazard in Thailand seeing the early months blighted with bad air

– Cheaper flights for Thailand but….
Domestic flight prices have been lowered in prices, following complaints by the transport minister but.. there is a catch.  A 20% saving is to be available on flights to most popular regions, with tickets bookable from today.. but with those lower price fares applied to early morning and late evening departures.  CAAT reports an extra 104 new flights registered at least for the Songkran period.

– 37 dogs poisoned in Rayong
Three dog owners in Rayong province have complained their dogs have been poisoned.  A total of 37 animals are said to have been fed by a passing truck at various times and locations seeing one owner lose 19.  Witnesses claim the animals approached a bronze coloured pickup which slowed down outside the properties, were duly fed and soon became sick.

– Unidentified foreigner found hanging in Pattaya forest
Police yesterday confirmed the finding of a Russian man who hung himself in a Nongprue forest area on Sunday, said to be around 40 yrs of age and male he had no ID with him but police DID secure his mobile phone.  With reports already sent to his embassy, a full post mortem will be carried out this week.  CCTV shows the man checking out the area before entering a second time and of course.. not re appearing.

– Muay Thai Championship on Jomtien Beach
