– Thai senate to grill government
Thailand’s senate is set to grill the current government on the implementation of intended policies, looking at achievements to date and details of those intended this year.   It’s a chance for them to ask in depth questions on any issue but will likely include the funding of the still on hold 10K baht giveaway to lower income thais. The so-called digital wallet program, along with charter amendments.  No date has been set for the meeting.  PM Srettha said the government is ready to address the Senate.

– Thai man WANTED for burying wife alive
In Maha Sarakham, to the north of Thailand, local police were called after villagers reported a wife and daughter missing.  Discovered buried in a shallow grave, and with the husband now on the run, initial reports indicate that the mother, at least, may have still been alive when buried after an obviously violent attack.

– Thai chicken vendor faces jail for impersonating lawyer
When is a Thai lawyer not a Thai lawyer?  When he is a grilled chicken seller of course.  Now in jail for over a year awaiting trial, a Kamphaeng Phet man faces charges that he impersonated a qualified lawyer and took money for his services BUT in reality sells chicken and had in the past worked in a lawyers office for a limited time.  At least one CLIENT complained to police and the law society after things went askew in legal cases he was handling or mishandling.  Either way, he faces at least 12 years in jail.  No word on whether he will hire himself as his own lawyer.

– Pattaya aims to attract 27 million visitors this year
Meanwhile at home and the tourism office in Pattaya has set a goal of 27 million visitors for the city this year.  With the majority likely to be local nationals, organized events and activities are already planned for the whole year and combined with the city’s ability to host major conferences and exhibitions. It’s all, we are told… on track.  Tourism from overseas is expected to rise too, after the low season, with the bulk made up of Chinese, and Asian, along with westerners.  With an estimated 70K hotel room in the city, hotels are banking on them doing a first class job.

– Motorbike accident victims’ life saved by passing doctor
Good karma kicked in for one 52 year old Thai man after he was thrown from his motorbike on the Sukhumvit this week.  As passers by attempted to revive him and with emergency services en route, a hospital doctor, driving on the same route, stopped and took over treatment which involved CPR to revive the man to a state whereby he could be moved to a hospital.

– Locals complain of late-night speaker rentals on Pattaya beaches
Thai media is reporting on complaints coming from locals near Jomtien beach.  According to them not only are illicit drinks being sold but the latest craze seems to be the renting out of Bluetooth speakers so that each group on the beach can compete in noise with the next, and that, it seems, is a new craze on Pattaya beach too.

– Sleepy tourist sparks rescue operation in Pattaya
An Indian man who had been out drinking with pals caused concern at 3 AM yesterday as he dozed off in a car to sleep off the booze.  Nothing wrong with that, but with all the doors locked, and his pals unable to wake him, police were called as they broke car windows.   Medics found him to be perfectly fine, drunk and obviously a deep sleeper.
