Thailand’s Tourism and sports Minister is to propose the final ending of the Thailand Pass requirement for visitors here. In addition to the hassle for individuals, he cited the difficulty for tour groups, which were once a staple diet of Thai tourism, to manage and oversee. Currently, no Thailand pass means refusal of entry. It may well be thought that proof of insurance remains in place. This will all be mooted at the next meeting of the CCSA.

In NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, 45 illegal immigrants were nabbed as they hid in a rubber plantation, and in Kanchanaburi a further 66 were also caught, some in a vehicle which was chased before crashing, but all indicating that the demand for cheap illegal workers is rising. No employers have ever been officially named by authorities, even during the covid-era when dozens were keenly shipping Burmese workers to their production lines.
Diesel prices at the pumps are set to rise for the second week in a row as the committee in charge of price control agreed a further 1 baht per litre, raising the price of commercial diesel, which can be used in any vehicle, to 33.94 baht a litre. That’s just 1 baht under the cap of 35 baht set by the state and subsidized as the world price rises.

Reports from Thai mainstream media indicate that a British 46 year old has been arrested in Hua Yai near Pattaya and will now be deported back to the UK where he jumped bail, after being found guilty of the worst level of pornography and whilst awaiting sentence. We reported on this a week ago and can only assume that he was being held here to deal with visa expiry issues before being deported. WILLIAM Dempster, from Lanarkshire, was charged with making and distributing illegal content over a 5 year period before being caught. Having fled here he managed to evade British authorities for 8 years until now when a combined operation between Scotland Yard and the Thai authorities will see him returned.

For drivers using the roads around Huay Chak Nok Lake, well you are better off avoiding that route. Road works which previously, for weeks, have seen the slow installation of new drainage have seen the complete road, on both sides, dug up and back to mud and during the day either congested or actually closed by workers. Alternative routes via Huay Yai are a better and certainly cleaner route.
High winds and storms, similar to those of last night, are predicted for the region today and for the rest of the week. Small boats should remain on the shoreline as the bay will without doubt see high waves and strong undercurrents.
