Thailand & Pattaya News, from Fabulous 103fm (4th November 2022)
Narcotics police are said to be delving deeper into what is being feted as a Chinese conspiracy to run illegal clubs, deal in drugs and launder money. All stemming from two, perhaps interrelated, nightclub raids that netted dozens of after hours users, and saw the daftest of outcries by one of effective protection. For now, the investigation, we are told, goes under wraps as police work to join the dots in what is expected to be a very INTERESTING network. This as Police yesterday reported on a raid to two homes with connections to call scam gangs, targeting Chinese, AND the raided so called chinese owned nightclub in the capital. 42 mill in cash, a dozen luxury sports cars and a reported 300 Million in luxury handbags. All taken as evidence. The link? One of the nightclub revelers was a Chinaman who, it’s claimed, shares joint Chinese, Thai and Cambodian nationality… Well, ID documents at least..

Hungry? Well, you might have stayed that way in the capital yesterday as hundreds of grab bike riders met outside the company HQ on Petchaburi road with demands that their bosses review their complaints of reductions in commissions and too many riders hired, meaning that getting a delivery at all was as tough as can be. Bosses finally met with some and promised that issues with riders WOULD be resolved within 14 days. This as many anyway have changed to other apps such as Bolt, and actual Car taxis signed up for grab are often signed for Bolt too.

The dept of corrections has seen 5 guards relieved of duty following claims of corruption among the charges were the demanding of money from families to see prisoners get better treatment or food..
In Buriram, yesterday a Pre-school invoked its own emergency procedure for terrorism after a local Yaba addict marched toward them, carrying a large knife. As parents rushed to warn teachers, SO with at least one teacher trained somewhat to deal with an emergency, all doors were locked and the children led to upstairs rooms. With none of the 4 dozen youngster panicking as they were NOT told what was occurring, the man had previously beaten his mother and set fire to his own home before heading out to COLLECT his 4 year old son. All too similar to the mad mass shooting in Nong Bua Lamphu 4 weeks ago BUT, this time the man was caught quickly by police and no one was injured.

In Chiang Rai, when a group of young party goers met in a carpark after Halloween celebration, one leant back on a fence, only to be electrocuted. As her pals attempted to rescue her, they of course were shocked too, before they finally used a shopping bag to net her and pull her free. The 26 yr old, a ladyboy, was resuscitated and taken to a local hospital but later died. The venue owner claims the fence isn’t his. The car park owner was less than forthcoming, stating that the fence was connected to the street lighting but there had never been a problem before. Police are investigating.
When a 24 year old Thai man tried to break up with his erstwhile 46 yr old married beau she wasn’t, according to him, overly pleased. And is suing her now ex Sammi Noi for the cool sum of 400K baht. The man has made a police report claiming that the affair was consensual, but as she wasn’t up for divorcing husband number one, he wanted out. No word on what husband number 1 plans to do now but she may just be looking for… a new partner.
Meanwhile at home and on Koh Larn island, the normally tranquil resort was troubled by local MEN on bikes this week, as one gang fought another, leaving 4, aged between 34 and 40 requiring hospital treatment and extra police sent to deal with the case following an outcry. Daft really as the island is so small, and with CCTV catching the scuffle.. identification of all involved was simple.

Pattaya police stated they intended to file charges against a Soi LK metro hip hop club caught serving 2 hours after the legal 1AM stop serve booze time on their licence. With doors locked and lights dimmed downstairs, “someone” had told the police of regular after hours gatherings, discovered in the second floor of the club. With no one failing drug tests, some 50 customers were allowed to leave but register records were taken as evidence and staff were duly arrested. Word on the street is that the venue was popular with staff working in locals that close earlier.. as a watering hole.

If the latest report of pickpocketing is to be believed, and it probably is, then our local pretty dressed criminal fraternity has found out the hard way that not all tourists wear 200K worth of gold around their necks to stop the being blown away along beach road. This as a Korean has complained that his wallet was stolen by an over friendly member of the 3rd gender this week, seeing him lose 5K baht. Likely a true story, and no exaggerated amount, police were checking CCTV recording.
