Thailand’s FDA has given approval for the use of Evusheld, an antibody drug used to PREVENT covid. This is not expected to replace vaccinations but instead is used for emergency use on adults and teenagers,  and IS reported to be safe, by the manufacturer Astrazeneca, for patients with allergies, heart disease or who are pregnant.

Tax on child seats for cars will be ZERO for 18 months in Thailand as the government works to make baby’s seats and booster seats more affordable ahead of making it the law that all are safe in vehicles. A 72 year old man found dead on a Buriram roadside DIDN’T die in a crash according to police who discovered knife wounds in addition to blunt force trauma to the head. He had been dumped with a motorcycle on top of him to replicate an accident scene BUT a check of his home found a burned mattress and traces of blood leading them to consider his son as a potential suspect in the killing. He denies all charges but when his elder brother arrived at the scene, police had to restrain him from beating his younger sibling and instead noted claims that dad and son had had numerous heated arguments.

In Pattaya last night police attended an emergency call from a hotel where a 54 year old Norwegian man is reported to have stabbed himself. Staff told police that they heard screams coming from the room and made a forced entry, only to discover the man alone. Having been a hotel resident for 6 months they were in shock. A check of his room revealed the weapon of choice, together with a stash of marijuana.

The latest craze among Arab visitors to the city is driving local crazy, seeing complaints flowing into police of gangs of bike riders racing around the popular areas of South Pattaya.  Most using rented bikes, and all happily revving the whatsits off the bikes in the early hours of mornings. Locals hope police will investigate.
