Thailand & Pattaya News, from Fabulous 103fm (27 May 2022)

Currently it is still a legal requirement for all here in Thailand to wear face masks in any public place. Yesterday saw the Public Health Ministry explain clearly that it is hoped that by mid next month, within certain provinces, including bkk and pattaya, there will be changes.  This though is NOT cast in stone as it is, so far a proposal.  The Ministry also plans to require those over 60 to still wear masks AND same for all large public gatherings.  The lifting of regulations is likely to be voluntary for businesses such as malls where owners would be able to still require mask wearing.  As said, currently mask wearing is a legal requirement here at the moment.

Despite multiple previous cases, which have in the past led to her being jailed, a 30 year old Thai woman has once again been arrested after using fake documents to CLAIM that she is a qualified cosmetic doctor.  Having been prosecuted 13 times to date, she was once again nabbed after an employer discovered her papers to be fake.  So blase was she, that she admitted the crime to police and asked for another handful to be taken into consideration, she says, well that she is saving to open her own clinic. It’s likely that she will spend more time behind bars.

Meanwhile a home and K Poramese, Pattaya’s new mayor elect, followed up on a set of projects needing completion that had been handed to him by the local Thai business association, asking that they be completed poste haste, and ready for any tourist season. Yesterday, he was out on Walking street to see for himself the roadworks and other delays along the promenade. The city is and will continue to bury power cables which before were an unsightly display of wires strung, often haphazardly from telegraph poles AND, he was assured, the Walking Street project will be completed within 30 days, with pavement repairs around the city promised by mid summer.

A quieter weekend for the city is predicted, after several long weekends and being a few days short of payday for most, out of towner counts are predicted to be lower. A good time perhaps for locals to venture out and enjoy what is fast becoming a lively nightlife scene again.
