Thailand & Pattaya News, from Fabulous 103fm (20 May 2022)

Following the vicious assault on a Russian lady at the east Pattaya Lake Mabprachan, a warning has been given to all to avoid the 2 km section that for some reason remains unlit and leads through dense forest. Yesterday saw the 38 year old lady released from medical care and reports indicate that she bravely fought off her unknown attacker despite being battered and bruised, before making her way along a further 1KM of the exercise route to the main road where she was spotted by a passing motorist. As usual there will be the standard statements from various authorities that its NOT their task to install the lighting in that area, but shame falls on all after the big promotions of the otherwise excellent lake round exercise route, popular with walkers, joggers and cyclists.  The number of people using the route was zero yesterday afternoon as it was also revealed, here, that there is no CCTV on the route so no safety fallback or support for police in such cases. A full video of the site of attack is available on our Youtube page, Fabulous Pattaya Media Group

Pattaya news: Maprachan beating

Today, Friday, sees the CCSA meet to review and hopefully approve the reopening of nightlife around thailand. With many landlords now extracting full rent, despite nominal business in most cases, and the current trend for bars to suddenly become eateries, the chance of full reopening has overwhelming support.

A former deputy attorney general, with 40 years legal experience, has been discharged from the Thai civil service following a decision, by a commission, set up to investigate exactly WHY he made the highly controversial decision to nix charges against the their to the Red Bull fortune, who smashed his his speed sports car into a policeman back in 2021. The commission declared that he had shown a lack of discretion in considering essential evidence in the case. The man fled Thailand and has never returned, however, an existing warrant for his arrest remains in place. The commission found no evidence of corruption in the matter.

Police believe that many men, totally embarrassed, have yet to come forward after an investigation into a gang of 20 Chinese and 4 Thais who ran a romance scam in Chiang mai. With all arrested it’s been revealed that they posed as FEMALES online, chatted to their marks and then invited them to invest in a fake forex investment app called Meta trader.  Once deposits were made by the luckless and loveless.. they were quickly blocked by their virtual beaus.

Lizards are being blamed for recent BKK flooding during storms, and, according to the water authority.. it’s no joke.  seems the drains and storm pipes are popular resting places for the huge monitor lizards that have made BKK their home for decades.  This week saw engineers find that they were washed into pumping stations, causing pumps to fail and flooding to occur in numerous areas. Tuesday night saw heavy flooding, no word on the health of those lizards involved.

Thailand news: Monitor lizards

As for the wet stuff, well, Thailand is predicted to see heavy rain and storms through the weekend and a warning for flash floods is out for most of the country. In the gulf, we are told to expect waves of up to 3 meters and all small boats should remain on the shoreline for safety.

As the region prepares for local elections on SUNDAY, the standard ban on alcohol sales applies to Pattaya, Na Jomtien , Naklua and Nong prue, with Sattahip and the Pong area, to the East of Pattaya ALLOWED to serve as in those areas there are no elections.
