According to the governor of Phuket, a case IS being prepared against one resort on the island that is alleged by a local lawyer to have flaunted opening times and party regulations. The lawyer representing concerned citizens had previously posted a video clip from a late night event on social media, and as a result several police were removed from their higher positions and reposted to desk jobs.

An investigation into a company listed as Concept Series by the DSI is now firmly underway after it was revealed that some three and a half thousand people had been duped into INVESTING in the so called cloud storage scheme over the past 3 years, netting what is now thought to have been a Ponzi scheme some 12 billion baht. No small operation this, and as in other similar scams, those who put money in, did so initially in small amounts, seeing a 200% annual profit, until they borrowed and put all their savings in to get the big one. Those big ones, though, failed of course to materialize. At least one director has been arrested recently.
The Drink Drug driver count, those actually processed and held over the songkran new year period has been totalled at 7,925. Just over 7K were arrested after failing booze tests, 765 for having illegal drugs in their system. Many are still awaiting processing through the legal system as courts return to work this week.
Phuket police have arrested the stepson of what is assumed to be a New Zealand man after the son was accused of procuring minors for subsequent abuse WITH his step father. The 32 yr old ex swimming coach lives alone in a house as the 78 yr old father moved back and forward to New Zealand where police will be informed and invited to assist in the case. There’s no escape from this type of charge nowadays as globally police work together and he, John Ross Young, and his son have been under investigation for 2 years. However, previous investigations into the old man were thwarted as neighbours claimed he was just being kind and considerate to locals and had often given out money. 10 to 15 youngsters are being questioned.

There is a Thai movie on Netflix that regales the tales of fierce competition between rival ambulance services in the capital, where all are privately run and contracted to the state. That highlighted the race to an accident scene in many cases, to see who could get there first and claim the fee for recovery. NOW reality… as yesterday saw one rescue worker shot dead and two wounded allegedly by their competition. Of the dead man’s team, a senior leader told police that previously they had received numerous fake calls for ambulances, attending only to find the competition waiting for them, and ready for a fight. POLICE are now said to be carrying out a full investigation.
Even before it opened to the public, a new bus terminal at Don Muang airport has seen its roof … cave in. Heavy storms in the region seem to have beaten the best plans of structural engineers who designed it, and with rainwater not running off fast enough, combined with design, the service hall was awash. No one was injured though, as the area is designated for tour groups, of which, currently, there are none.

Meanwhile at home and in Pattaya, smog levels remain in the amber this morning with the expectation that continued rain will keep them that way.
