Following the fatal double decker coach crash on the motorway in Saraburi at the weekend, the driver, who had claimed that he hadn’t fallen asleep but that a tyre burst, has been caught out in his lie, as blood tests reveal a substantial amount of illegal substances in his bloodstream. The 30 year old, now in police custody, has, we are told, accepted that he had taken drugs. With the death toll expected to rise as many remain in ICU, the coach had been running from Roi Et to the capital when it careered into an overpass pillar. No other vehicle was involved in the crash.

With official announcements expected by month’s end, it’s been established that the mayoral elections in both Pattaya and Bangkok will take place May 22. From mayors to councilors the election could see a change of faces, especially in the capital. Here, the current mayor will, we are told, run for reelection, having steered the city through covid and at the same time concentrated on the new NEO Pattaya Program. He will without doubt see support from the previously ELECTED mayor, his brother, now minister Khun Ittipon. No word on those who will run against him here, but in the capital the list is fast expanding. Seems everyone wants the job.

The funeral of Tengmo, the Thai actress who died after falling from a private boat on the Chao Phraya river, has been delayed, after demands by her mother for a second autopsy. She isn’t happy with the theory that the woman fell from the back of the boat after someone took a sharp turn. The Justice Ministry has recruited 3 experts to act as a committee in the second autopsy.

When a security patrol pulled a State Fisheries vehicle over for a check and a chat, the last thing they expected was to find three female illegal immigrants on board. Seems the fisheries department official was working on the side as a mule on the Kanchanaburi border with Burma. He has now been sacked from his job, the illegals of course prepared for return and his boss, too, is expected to be disciplined.
In Buriram, a spate of petrol station burglaries went unsolved until recently, police had no clues as to who was breaking in and robbing safes. That’s until Police entered a closed PTT station at 1AM and found the man dead. Reports indicate that he killed himself by somehow wrapping power cables around himself and then plugging them in. All very confusing but CCTV will show if anyone else was in the building at the time.

Football in Thailand has become of interest globally, following an attack by a player went viral. Fired by his club, the incident showed the PLAYER hitting an opponent with a sickening Muay-Thai elbow to a North Bangkok uni player in a third division match.
