Thailand & Pattaya News, from Fabulous 103fm (15 June 2022)

The UK consulate was working with a British family yesterday following the death of a former Isle of Man TT Racer in Chiang Mai province. The 83 year old was killed in an accident caught on CCTV, that shows a Chinese lady accelerating across in front of him. Camera evidence shows he was wearing a helmet but was unable to avoid the driver, reportedly Chinese and visiting Thailand. She is likely to face charges.

A Thai suspect who fled Taiwan after the killing of a married couple who, it’s said, he was in business with, has been spotted in his home town and the family home. The 35 year old is wanted by police in Taiwan regarding the killing of a man and his wife, who was pregnant with twins. Before stuffing them into the boot of a car and fleeing here. His family are assisting police and told that the man had been to their house, but left in their fathers car to… a destination unknown.

The newly elected Bangkok Governor is reportedly concerned at recent revivals of protests in the city, so much so that he has assigned a deputy to oversee a program that will offer medical care and relief to any who are injured. Protests have occurred in recent days and despite the main authority being the police, the city will, we are told, will try to find a venue where the protesters could demonstrate peacefully.

Foreigners arriving in Thailand could see faster processing at immigration as a temporary stop for the need for the TM6 forms goes into effect. The white forms we fill in, declaring flight details and intended addresses are, the media has been told, somewhat superfluous currently AND dropping them could ease congestion, making the job of immigration officers a lot simpler. Land and sea arrivees will still be required to complete them.

Sattahip police are investigating the drowning of a 35 yr old Bangkok woman who was visiting the area with her husband and child and drowned during a diving practice. The rescue team discovered her deep under the waters and it was thought, prior to autopsy, that she had blacked out.

It’s official, finally Pattaya has a confirmed mayor, and winner of the elections here. The Election Commission recorded the election as honest and fair, declaring him, along with The Love Pattaya party as winners. Our mayor committed himself to the speedy completion of roadworks, the relaunch of the city as a global GO TO venue and the return of regular tourist events throughout the year. He will also work with illegal beachside vendors, trying to find a happy medium that allows them to trade, albeit in a better fashion.

And WHO’s GOT THE BIGGEST? Seems to have been won hands down by those living on the Chaiyapruk road. This as locals post numerous photos of the BIGGEST pedestrian crossing imaginable. Certainly no room for drivers to miss it, the crossing, along with zig zags, coloring and signage may become the norm in the city but, for now, it’s a one off.

Thailand & Pattaya News, from Fabulous 103fm (14 June 2022) As Thailand enters a new era of legal mar!juana, and with shops and bar type businesses popping up, the issue for Thai police is how to deal with those who drive under the influence.  Previously any sign of illegal dru gs in a driver's system linked to penalties but as the consumption of gan ja is now legalised, albeit with […]
