Thailand & Pattaya LATEST NEWS from Fabulous 103fm (24 January 2023)

Investigations begin today into a minivan crash in Nakhon ratchasima which resulted in 11 of 12 passengers on board dying at the scene as it burned out.  As emergency services raced all to local hosptials, tests were due to be carried out on the driver which may give up some clues.

The labour ministry reminded all Non-thais here that working without a work permit and associated visa is not only illegal but carries heavy fines for those caught.  Investigations into non-Thais working are due to be expanded to our own province as well as the capital, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Koh Samui. With some work, such as food vending and touring guiding, even to nighttime areas, on the restricted list , exclusive to Thai nationals only, another issue appears to be non Thais working in the entertainment industry without proper paperwork.

As tourism numbers rise, the warning is out that the latest Covid variant,  XBB.1.5, is highly transmissible . A so-called SUB variant of current types, the new one is highly contagious but is less vigorous in its effect on patients.

Government representatives have flatly denied claims spouted by a Chinese onliner that she paid 6 or 7K baht to get sped through immigration at the airport and then driven in an almost motorcade to her dwelling in pattaya. The post, which mocked how cheap so-called VIP treatment is, and claimed she had police on bikes escorting her has been derided by many authorities and seen…her slightly.. backtracking.

In Krabi, an autopsy has been ordered for a German tourist who was said, by his mother to be “depressed”, before he was found and escorted from a mountaintop where he had planned to take his own life. That aside, he was chatty with cops until he stepped away from them and jumped from a rocky peak to his death.  His mother had called the park service and reported that he was there with intent to kill himself, they then located him and sent a team to remove him safely, which they did… until he ran toward the Cliffside and jumped falling a reported 50 metres.
