Pattaya & Thailand LATEST NEWS from Fabulous 103fm (5 April 2023)

3 Chinese suspects arrested in Whuan following Bangkok murder
The killing of a 22 year old Chinese student in Nonthaburi, following her kidnap by three fellow countrymen has taken an unexpected few turns as it is now reported that the three, who fled, will be tried in China and not Thailand.  This as Thai police hold a Bangkok bar girl who befriended them and is alleged to have found the student and, afterwards helped them get to the airport, all for money of course.  But there’s more.  As her father arrived in Thailand yesterday, authorities now believe that the student was NOT in any relationship with the man who had, essentially stalked her BUT had actually thwarted his romantic efforts and turned him down when he approached her. Confused?  So is everyone else but the demands for money from her father may have been a ruse to give them time to escape after she was killed and dumped in a canal.  All appear to be of similar age to their victim and the three had flown here specifically to meet up with her.

Hacker of 55 million Thais data identified
The Criminal Court succeeded in blocking a website that promised to reveal the personal details of 55 MILLION Thais which, it claimed, it had stolen during a hack on government networks unless they were compensated, in other words paid a ransom.  Thai police believe that the hackers are Thai nationals and with the deadline set BY them for today, after which they claimed they would begin to release the records online, the latest seems to be that the hackers have backed down, claiming that they were funded by a third party, and that they no longer supported that third party.    No word on the security breach, if any, that allowed them to access computers for long enough to do the download but, for sure, it would have taken an extremely long time, and such a breach should normally show up in a security system. The website is no longer available in Thailand. often hackers hack.. for sport, whereas those funding them do so with financial or political motive.

Australian resort manager murdered in Krabi
On Krabi, an Australian resort manager is reported to have been killed after a dispute with the husband of a hotel employee over wages.  Ao Nang police attended the scene and the local hospital where he finally passed away despite medical intervention and the local man is being held. The 57 yr old is reported to have been the manager, however the same reports indicate that his WIFE is the resort owner, as is often the case.

Brit denied insurance claim following motorbike crash
British media reports on 24 yr old Josh Richardson, a tourist here who, in February, crashed a rented bike in Bangkok very late at night and who’s insurance, according to family, won’t pay his medical bill for brain damage.  They claim the insurance wont pay as no one has proven whether or not he was wearing a crash helmet.  Thai police and medic teams photograph accident scenes to the ninth degree here, especially if a non-Thai is involved and will know without doubt whether or not he had one.   Of equal issue is where or not he had a bike licence in his home country as, if not, legally he could ride a bike here and of course his insurance would be void.  Family is desperate to raise 6 million baht to get him back to the UK. So far they have raised just over 1.

Smog levels rise in Thailand
Extreme heat, without wind or rain over Thailand has seen smog levels rise to high levels again. With bkk at over 100.  However, proof that the issue covers much of Southeast Asia is that Vietnam’s Da na showed an unhealthy 170 this morning,  Yangon in Myanmar 120  whilst Chiang Mai and Rai were over 250, which is dangerously unhealthy.
