As storms continued over Phuket yesterday, the power company worked to restore the electricity supply to the main airport. It seems a dozen telegraph poles were knocked over during heavy rain seeing police closing the old airport road and teams working to install new poles and cables. Meanwhile, NO work can be carried out on the partially collapsed 4029 road toward Pathong as, until rains subside, the site is unsafe for equipement to work on. This as storm fronts continue across the bay, from the south up to the capital and in our own area too, seeing the warning out to small boats NOT to leave the shoreline.

He may be a New Zealander but 43 yr old Shane Ngakuru isn’t likely to get home anytime soon as Thai authorities confirmed his deportation to the US where he faces drug related charges along with racketeering. Said to be a member of the biker group Comancheros, which ISN’T illegal here, the FBI attache in BKK got first dibs on him. Once America has dealt with him, he will be forwarded to his home country, where he may aso face prosecution but likely that is a long way off.

Things got a bit shaky in Chiang Mai yesterday, an earthquake registered some 2 KM below ground and hitting 4.1 on the Richter scale. No damage was reported from the area at all but the tremors were felt across the province.
An inventory check on weapons supposedly held in a local Nonthaburi police station showed more than just a few missing, in fact 90 in all. The police sgt major in charge of their storage had already fled, but was nabbed in Nong khai, and his station chief has been TRANSFERRED to an alternative posting as authorities revealed that an undercover investigation has been ongoing for some while, in the knowledge that guns were being sold off from the statin over the past 2 years. It’s now claimed that the disgraced NCO falsified documentation in order to hide the disappearance and later reported that many of the missing weapons had been handed to colleagues for their work, which was totally false. Anyone having bought a gun LISTED in the police records faces jail unless they return it post haste. But then again, most won’t know the history of their weapon.
Aed Carabao, singer in the popular carabao band faces charges of defamation DESPITE having apologised to the Supanburi governor for a misunderstanding. Seems the band objected to not being invited to play at a provincial event and compaliend publicly, berating the governor for not choosing them to appear. Subsequently, the governor’s office claimed that there were NO featured artists at the event due to covid restrictions. That was only revealed to the singer AFTER he had made his feelings known on stage.. The twist? Well, the Thai media will have you believe that the governor is a Carabao FAN BUT says he will follow through with the lawsuit to protect his reputation.

In Pattaya the 5 Thai men accused of terrorizing a private pool party at a short time rental house have handed themselves in to police , along with their weapons. All in their 20s, one of their guns, a glock, matches bullets found in parked cars at the house and all appear to admit the crime of bodily harm, using a firearm to intimidate and more. As we predicted early in the week, all would be in custody by today, and they are, so they and police are so far keeping tight-lipped as to the reason behind their violence and to WHO was the person they were looking for, in a photo shown to the guests . In a neat twist, the girlfriend of one of the 5 HAS spoken to Thai media, to tell them that her BF ISNT a criminal, he is just a very naughty boy. She claims he wasn’t involved, but just went along for the ride. That, tho, isn’t likely to see him better treated than the others.

Soi Chaiyapruk 2 is the latest main road to see the return of the dreaded drain pipes. Yes, just a year after completing new drainage the full length of the soi, seeing the road dug up and disruption for local businesses.. It’s a retake. This week has seen new pipes being dropped off the full length of the road, which means that the new concrete will be dug up and replaced with new concrete and the new drains replaced with … new drains. We can’t comment on the book keeping but investors may want to put their free cash into the cement industry here. It’s a guaranteed winner right now.
