Bearing Robes and flowers donated by their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand, the PM along with Cabinet members attended the Royally sponsored cremation ceremony for the 37 victims of last week’s cruel mass shooting in North Eastern Thailand. With three separate temples hosting funeral rituals, additional temporary furnaces were erected at all three to afford each of the dead a dignified cremation, and all within the same day. As the families of each of the dead gathered, flags nationwide remained at half mast, and in a rare occurrence , funeral ceremonies were held for the mass of those dead TOGETHER, and not individually, as is normally custom in the Buddhist way of life.

In Bangkok, warnings have reached residents and businesses alongside the Chao Phraya river, despite promises that there would NOT be flooding to any great extent this year. It’s expected that river levels will reach highs today and tomorrow AND flood warnings have been given in order that people have the chance to move valuables to higher ground. From the capital to the north, river levels continue to rise and reservoirs hit their levels of safe capacity, seeing dams forced to open and, as a result, even more water flowing into fast flowing rivers. Concern remains for those communities along the river downstream FROM the Central plains to the capital. In Ayutthaya, flood levels rose, seeing many roads closed following the extended opening of the Chainat dam to its highest release rate this year to date.
With the APEC summit of National leaders due to be held in the capital in just a month’s time, plans are already being implemented to ensure tight and complete security. Word is that the Russian president Putin has accepted an invitation to attend, that doesn’t mean he will attend, that China’s leader has yet to RSVP and the US President won’t be attending but WILL be sending a representative. Concern has been more about protesters from overseas, who could see the event as a chance to get their gripes onto the world stage. THAT though, we are told, is and has been seriously addressed.

On Phuket, local media is reporting on a dearnaged local policeman, caught on camera carrying a gun as he wandered around a housing estate, to the concern of local residents. Having blocked the entrance to the estate with his own truck, reports syndicate he hid as Police quickly arrived at the scene. NINE HOURS LATER, after considerable effort to keep things calm, police finally managed to take the man into custody, relieving him of a handgun and ammunition in the process. He faces charges of carrying a gun in public without a reason, BUT as a policeman he WILL have, or at least HAVE HAD a licence for his weapon. Under new regulations, he SHOULD be banned from carrying a weapon due to his behaviour, and be the first to be banned. As per new recommendations issued after the killings in Isaan by a deranged ex-cop.
