FABULOUS 103FM HEADLINE NEWS (3 MAY 2023) FROM THAILAND & PATTAYA

4 day weekend for Thailand
Tomorrow, Thursday AND Friday are both public holidays in Thailand and will see all government offices, including immigration offices, closed.  The celebration, in honour of the Coronation day of HM the King of Thailand, is boosted by an extra day on Friday and, as such, will generate a 4 day holiday weekend for most Thais.  Whilst utility companies will close, online payment to those and other government offices contend to be available.

Warrant issued for suppliers of Cyanide to Cyanide Sarah
The enquiry into the multiple killings alleged to have been carried out by Thailand’s “Cyanaide Sara”  has expanded this week to an application for a warrant to search a Bangkok company that may have supplied the drug to her, which was later used to poison her victims. This as other enquiries investigate a, so far, unnamed police officer, who may or may not be implicated.  Cyanide Sara,  real name Sararat,  is accused of poisoning victims  on multiple occasions in order to avoid repayment of personal loans and remains in police custody.

Organizers of illegal Indian casino claim to have paid for ‘protection’
For hours the Indian husband, and thai wife who allegedly organised a tour trip for Indians to an illegally set up casino in Pattaya, were questioned BY police.  Their task, to establish whether the duop really funded this themselves or there is a major backer behind them.  Either way a major part of the investigation is claims regarding the payment of 2 million baht to “officials”  to look the other way as they entertained close to 100 Indian gamblers in a Soi 4, Pratumnak Hotel, netting a massive amount of money after importing all types of gambling paraphernalia.  As the casino staff were separated from angry, and somewhat scared, punters in police cells, they are aware that whilst courts are open today, to consider any charges, it would be only the most generous of judges who would see them for four days come tomorrow as courts close for the holidays.  As of last night NONE were offered bail, as considered flight risks, and so ALL remain in the cells.  The organizing duo have claimed that they paid two FIXERS to bribe officials BUT they turned out to be worthless to them, and are said to have fled the area.  With Thailand’s top cop on the case, they are likely to be found but the question  still remains, how many similar casino events have been set up here before this, without being caught?

Dangerous Pattaya roadworks abandoned around the city
With the Pattaya region claiming to be THE PLACE TO BE, and it probably is, the issue is now- how to get there? As roadworks, in many cases, seem to be frozen in time.  For close to three weeks major and minor streets have remained untouched by construction teams, leaving site work open and in most cases unlit to warn of the dangers.  Soi Chayapruk 2, as an example, saw drains buried a year or so ago, dug up again and plans to replace them.  Both sides of the road are dug up, and refilled with.. sand.  Seeing numerous cases where vehicles have sunk into what appears to be a safe area and multiple near-miss accidents when drivers don’t see the dug up channels until it’s too late. For businesses, it’s worse as, in addition to no parking for staff and customers, in many cases their own property is crumbling as roadworks have removed soil from under foundations, causing them to sag.  The city, well, it will blame the construction companies, but the buck stops there for sure.

Pattaya bank scam victims compensated
Kasikorn bank has, now in many cases, been obliged to compensate account holders in Pattaya who were scammed by an in-house bank employee into handing over deposits which.. never reached their accounts.  Several years ago the wily, now ex, employee was arrested.  The bank denied any wrongdoing and some were simply refused refunds.  NOW we get reports that the bank HAS had to compensate them.  The scam, which is virtually impossible for a single employee to have carried out alone, has never been attributed to other members of staff.
